Scope
Biomedical engineering has developed into a broad-based, independent discipline that applies engineering principles to systems of enormous size and complexity, from the molecular level (molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, protein chemistry, cytology, immunology, neurobiology, and neuroscience) to cellular and tissue systems (including devices and sensors), and even to biomes and ecosystems.
Measurement science and technology encompasses system sensing, which perform monitoring of the surrounding environment or specific objects, through techniques such as gas sensing, light sensing, temperature and humidity sensing, human body sensing, and so on. Analogue signals are converted into digital signals and given to the central processor for processing. The resultant output gas concentration parameters, light intensity parameters, object detection, temperature and humidity data, may be displayed in the form of images or signals.
This Special Issue on Biomedical Engineering and Measurement Technology will be devoted to the research and development of sensing technologies in medicine. Descriptions of advancements in measurement technology applications for medical robot systems, medical apparatus, biomedical imaging technologies, and artificial intelligence of medical monitoring are particularly encouraged.
