In recent years, the global medical sensor market has expanded significantly with the rapid growth in demand for minimally invasive surgery, remote patient monitoring, and personalized medicine. In the field of medical robots and health monitoring, the importance of intelligent sensing and measurement technology has become increasingly prominent: through innovative measurement methods and intelligent sensors, medical robots can achieve higher-precision surgical operations, and remote health monitoring is sustainable and non-invasive. Capture key physiological data efficiently.
However, complex human biological signal processing, measurement system accuracy, and data reliability still face significant challenges. Therefore, it is of great significance to develop intelligent sensing and measurement technologies to deal with these problems in medical robots and health monitoring. This column will focus on novel measurement principles, innovative sensor designs, advanced signal processing technologies and their applications in the healthcare field, providing a platform to promote further development in this important field.
This special issue aims to showcase cutting-edge research in sensors and measurement technologies designed for medical applications and health monitoring. The guest editorial team sincerely invites submissions of original research papers, including but not limited to the following topics:

Guest Editor
Jiafeng Yao
Ph.D., associate professor at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and currently the deputy editor-in-chief of Measurement journal, focusing on biomedical sensors and measurement technology. He has served as a guest editor for several columns in international journals, including the Tomographic Sensors and Devices in Medical Imaging column in Chemosensors and the Portable and Remote Measurement column in Sensors. He has rich scientific research experience in the field of biomedical sensors and intelligent measurement, and has published more than 80 papers and 2 monographs.
Bo Sun
Ph.D., associate professor at the School of Mechanical and Precision Instrument Engineering of Xi'an University of Technology, and currently the guest editor of the Biomedical Engineering and Measurement Technology column of the Journal of Measurement Science and Technology. Research efforts focus on systems engineering, optimized design, biomedical imaging and industrial process imaging, especially in the areas of electrical resistance tomography and sensor manufacturing. He has published many papers in journals such as IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Sensors Journal, Physiological Measurement-IOP, Measurement Science and Technology-IOP, etc.
Chen Ye
PhD, Associate Professor of School of Communication and Information Engineering, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, is currently the Young Editor of Journal of Metaverse and the Guest Editor of its column Information Infrastructure of Metaverse. His research interests include medical image processing, health monitoring and artificial intelligence. He has published nearly 20 papers in international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques and IEEE Internet of Things Journal.
Pierre-Olivier Bagnaninchi
PhD, Principal Researcher of the Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, University of Edinburgh, is currently the Guest Editor of the Biomedical Engineering and Measurement Technology column of Measurement Science and Technology. He focuses on developing label-free quantitative technologies to map the biophysical properties of cells and tissues, has published more than 70 journal papers, and regularly serves as a reviewer for several international journals
Deendarlianto
PhD, Professor of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Gadjah Mada, Head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, has served as a guest editor of the journal Science and Technology of Nuclear Installations. His main research interests are intelligent measurement and biomedical measurement in robot sensing and control. He has published more than 100 academic papers in international journals and conferences, and his work has been applied more than 1,500 times.
